Psychologist Medicare Rebate 2024

You may be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for your appointment. Your doctor (GP, Psychiatrist, or Paediatrician) may write you a referral under a treatment plan outlined below.

Currently there are 3 different referral plans that are eligible to receive a Medicare rebate.

  1. Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)

  2. Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDP)

  3. Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan

Please take the time to read through the details of each plan if you wish to take advantage of receiving these rebates.

The practice management software we use allows us to easily process your Medicare rebate following your appointment for your convenience.

Private Health Insurance

If you have private health insurance cover, and you do not wish to use, or are not eligible for, a Medicare based plan you may be able to claim a portion of the session fee from your private health fund. You will need to confirm with your individual cover whether psychology services receive a rebate - the amount of rebate and for how many sessions will differ between each health fund and each plan.

Can I claim from both my Private Health Fund & Medicare?

No, you can only claim from one or the other.

Are we a Bulk Billing Psychologist?

Our practice is a private fee practice, and as such we unfortunately do not Bulk Bill any of our Psychology Services.
